Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program aimed at combating childhood obesity that is offered by National Dairy Council, American Dairy Association/Dairy Council of Nebraska and National Football League (NFL). This program empowers students to make changes at school that will help them “get active and play” for 60 minutes daily and “fuel up” with the Food Groups To Encourage which are critical nutrient-rich foods often missing from their diets – like low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, fruits, vegetables and whole grains. To support the efforts of Nebraska schools implementing this program, Nebraska Action for Healthy Kids is offering grants of $500 to a select number of schools. Applications are due by November 30th, 2009 and all grant applicants will be notified of their funding status by December 16th, 2009.

2009 ADA/DC of Nebraska Milk Vending Grants ($1,500)
Milk is a powerful source of calcium and other essential nutrients which make it a healthful alternative to offer to your students in your schools vending machines. By placing a milk vending machine at your school, you will allow your students to make healthier beverage choices and improve their nutrient intake at a time when the majority of youth fail to meet the recommendations of the USDA's Food Pyramid and fall short of meeting recommendations for key nutrients such as calcium.
The American Dairy Association and Dairy Council of Nebraska will award up to ten (10) $1,500 milk vending grants during the 2009 calendar year. The grants are open to any high school in the state of Nebraska.
