2008 Summit Overview

"Moving Forward With School Wellness"

On April 15, 2008 Nebraska Action For Healthy Kids held the 2008 Summit "Moving Forward With School Wellness" During the event schools and districts were awarded for addressing the epidemic of overweight, undernourished and sedentary youth through collaborative, innovative, and evidence-based strategies.

Awards were presented to schools and/or districts based on exemplary actions in the following areas:

• Nutrition/Health Education
• Physical Activity
• Physical Education
• School Nutrition Services
• Community Collaboration
• Implementation of Wellness Policy

The Keynote Address titled, "Where there is a will, there are many ways" was given by Author, Speaker and Nutrition Therapist Dayle Hayes, MS, RD
